Informational Meeting with Regional Mass Media Representatives has Finished
The CEC and the Training Center representatives held an informational meeting with the representatives of regional mass media through the period of October 2-4, 2018. At the meetings the audience was introduced to the electoral legislation updates and covered various important topics, among them:
- The role of mass media in the electoral process;
- Voting day and regulations concerning photo and video shooting;
- Promoting inclusive electoral environment and gender equality;
- Banning the use of administrative resources.
As part of the meeting the participants were also informed about legislative mechanisms for ensuring secure electoral environment and discussed the role of mass media in the process of holding peaceful elections. The Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Training Center representatives briefed the participants around the above issues. While the representative of the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) shared with the participants their experience with principal schemes of reporting on elections and international electoral security standards.
At the end of the meeting, mass media representatives received manuals developed by the Training Center for the Presidential Elections, October 28, 2018.
In total, 61 representatives from 25 TV/Radio broadcasters and 26 Print/Online media attended the informational meeting, among them 44 women and 17 men. For detailed statistics follow the link.
CEC and Training Center held the informational meetings with media with support of International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) in cooperation with Georgian Regional Media Association and Journalism Resource Center.
