4th Annual Meeting of Election Management Bodies, 2014
The Central Election Commission hosted the 4th Annual Meeting of Election Management Bodies. The meeting took place on 24-26 February 2014 at the Courtyard Marriott Hotel in Tbilisi, Georgia. The main topic of the meeting referred: Stakeholder Engagement and Effective Communication. The meeting was organized in cooperation with the International Centre for Parliamentary Studies (ICPS).
Representatives of 15 election administrations together with the representatives of various international organizations participated in the meeting.
David Usupashvili, Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, H.E. Philip Dimitrov, Ambassador, Head of Delegation of the European Union to Georgia, Tamar Zhvania, Chairperson of the Central Election Commission of Georgia and Matt Gokhool, Chief Executive of International Centre for Parliamentary Studies made opening remarks of the meeting.
During the two-day meeting the participants presented their visions on the following topics: implementing effective communication in electoral processes and stakeholder engagement by using modern electoral technologies. Ms. Zhvania introduced meeting participants with the Georgian experience and presented the planned activities of the CEC. Invited experts Shalva Tskhakaia, Legal Expert at UNDP Liberia and Eduardo Núñez, NDI Regional Director for Central American Program participated in the meeting as well. Keynote speakers provided meeting participants with their experiences and visions regarding stakeholder relations, managing expectations and political communication.
