“Discuss Together” – Online Meeting with Civil Society Representatives
At the initiative of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Georgia online meeting was held with civil society representatives (CSOs).
The key topics of the meeting concerned the draft of Code (ethics) of Conduct between the Election Administration (EA) of Georgia and domestic observer organizations for 2020 Georgian Parliamentary Elections and ongoing election activities during the pandemic.
Tamar Zhvania, the CEC Chairperson opened the online meeting and spoke about the platform “Discuss Together”. The CEC Chairperson noted that due to the situation caused by the pandemic, it is desirable to hold these meetings remotely shortly. Chairperson’s views were also shared by the participants of the meeting. Tamar Zhvania spoke in detail with the CSO representatives about the activities carried out by the EA in the pandemic situation caused by the new coronavirus.
Today, the CEC spokesperson Ana Mikeladze also introduced the updated draft of the Code of Conduct (Ethics) reflecting significant initiatives in line with the new challenges of the Georgian EA and domestic observer organizations to the participants of the meeting; The election administration by presenting the Code of Conduct today has started working with the CSOs to jointly work out a final document.
33 representatives of domestic and international organizations and the CEC attended the online meeting today.
