News Briefing regarding the Electoral Rights of Georgian Citizens who were Removed from Registration, whose Registration has been Declared Invalid, and who Registered without Indication of Address
The Central Election Commission (CEC) held a news briefing regarding the electoral rights of Georgian citizens who have been removed from registration, whose registration has been declared invalid, and who registered without indication of address. Ana Mikeladze, the CEC Spokesperson informed the media about the aforementioned legislative regulations.
According to Ms. Mikeladze, citizens who have been removed from registration or whose registration has been declared invalid are included in the unified voters’ list according to their actual address or the location of their last registration. Citizens who registered without indication of addresses, they are included in the unified list of voters in accordance with the actual addresses included in the electronic database of the Public Service Development Agency (PSDA).
“It is worthwhile to note that the citizens of Georgia wishing to participate in Georgian parliamentary elections, whose actual address of residence is not even indicated on the agency’s electronic database can, now, apply the branches of the Public Service Hall, or any of the public centers and territorial services of the Public Service Development Agency. Upon arrival, they should present either an ID card or passport; and take a digital photo,” – declared Ms. Mikeladze.
The Spokesperson also noted that the abovementioned citizens will enjoy certain benefits, about which one can find more information from either the Public Service Development Agency or the hotline of the Ministry of Justice.
“We would like to urge the citizens, who have been removed from registration, whose registration has been declared invalid and who registered without indication of address to timely address the Agency before October 10th, verify their data, and if needed take the necessary procedures to ensure the participation in the upcoming election,” – announced Spokesperson at the end of the briefing.
