The President of Georgia shall be elected by the Election Panel on the basis of without-debate voting, by open ballot, for a term of five years. The same person may be elected as President of Georgia for only twice. The date of regular elections of the President of Georgia shall be fixed by the Parliament of Georgia 60 days before Election Day. If the date of elections of the President of Georgia coincides with the month of elections of the Parliament of Georgia or with the previous month, the elections of the President of Georgia shall be held within 45 days after the first meeting of newly elected Parliament is held.
Any citizen of Georgia, with the right to vote, who has attained the age of 40, and who has lived in Georgia for at least 15 years, may be elected as President of Georgia.
