Voters Education
Voter and Civic Education
Civic and voter education is one of the priorities of the Strategic and Action Plans of the Election Administration. It envisages increasing civic engagement in electoral processes, increasing voter participation and raising voter awareness.
The CEC implements several innovative projects with this respect.
- Electoral Development Schools
The CEC in collaboration with its Training Center implements the project – “Electoral Development School” designed for youth which aims at increasing civic engagement, the popularization of elections in youth and developing training skills of District Election Commission members. The project is implemented annually and the CEC plans to gradually cover all election districts in Georgia.
Electoral Development School” was launched in 2015. Pilot project was successfully implemented in 10 election districts and as a resulf of CEC decision it is being implemented annually.
- Election and Young Voter
The CEC in cooperation with the CEC Training Center implement informational-learning course “Elections and Young Voter” for engagement of youth in public –political life and raising their awareness.
The course is conducted for the 11th and 12th grade public school students in the regions densely populated with ethnic minorities and high mountainous regions of Georgia.
The project is being implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia.
- Courses for Election Administrators
The CEC and its Training Center implement the project “Courses for Election Administrators” for preparing professional and high qualified human resources. The course ensures learning of the voting procedures.
- Legal Clinic
Since 2010 the legal clinic has been operating at the CEC Training Center and aimed to deepen the required professional knowledge of law faculty students at higher education institutions in election law as well as raise their civic awareness and develop practical skills.
- Learning Course in Election law at High Education Institutions
The CEC Training Center under the auspices of the CEC implements various educational programs including one-semester learning course in election law (Study Course in Election Law) for the students of law faculty as well as political and social science faculty (media school) students.
- Distance Learning Program
The CEC Training Center elaborated distance learning program aiming at increasing awareness and is available to all interested persons. The program includes tests which is an additional mean for checking knowledge. Distance Learning Program
- Supporting Civil Society Engagement
CEC Training Center within the framework of the grand competition issues the targeted grants for increasing civic engagement in electoral processes and capacity building of civil sector and political parties.
