Elections of the Supreme Council of Autonomous Republic of Adjara
Regular elections of the Supreme Council of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara shall be held on the last Saturday of October of the calendar year during which the term of authority of the Supreme Council is expired. The President of Georgia shall call the date of elections of the Supreme Council by cosigning of Prime-minister of Georgia.
Any citizen of Georgia with the right to vote who has attained the age of 25 prior to or on the day of elections can be elected as a member of the Supreme Council of Autonomous Republic of Adjara and who resided in Georgia for at least five years. A person sentenced to imprisonment by a court ruling may not be elected as a member of the Supreme Council.
In the regular Supreme Council Elections, the Supreme Council consists of 21 deputies elected by the proportional system for 4 years by Georgian citizens with the right to vote registered on the territory of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara based on universal, free, equal, and direct suffrage.
In the regular Supreme Council Elections, to allocate seats to political parties running in elections as a result of Supreme Council Elections, the number of votes received by each political party is multiplied by 21 and divided by the sum of votes received by all political parties running in elections. Mandate (s) will be given to all political parties that got enough votes to get at least one seat. To determine the mandates received by each political party, the number of votes received by each political party is multiplied by 21 and divided by the sum of votes received by all political parties that got enough votes to get at least one seat. The whole part of the number received is the number of seats received by a political party.
